Unlock the Past’s 3rd History & Genealogy Cruise – Geneacruising Part 3
It’s Sunday afternoon and I should be packing my bags as it’s just over a week and I’m heading of the the centre of the genealogy-world Salt Lake City, Utah for RootsTech… but I’m finding it really, really hard, as Summer has extended itself wayyy into March, which includes more record heatwaves above 35C, thinking about what to wear for 10C days, and 0C nights is really hard.
So since I also needed to finish off telling you about the last few days of the cruise, blogging wins out for now and packing will come later.
So in part 1 I told you about the first few days, part 2 I told you about the 2 days at Noumea, so now it’s on to the rest.
Friday 15 February 2013 to Tuesday 19 February 2013
After our 2nd day in Noumea (thanks to the engine problem), which had no meetings scheduled, and was a really nice quiet day for everyone (at least those I spoke to), Friday through to Monday was full on with talks. Not that you had to go to them if you didn’t want to, but I was there to learn, and I just hope that some of the info I heard actually stay in my head.
So with our ship making it’s way back to Sydney very slowly since we didn’t get to go on to Fiji, I made the most of the talks on offer.

By Monday evening it was time to pack up the conference room and our bags, and we were due to dock back at Sydney Harbour about 6am, then it was disembark, grab a taxi and head off to our various destinations.

all things must come to an end, and that includes the History & Genealogy Cruises too, here we’re disembarking off the ship
So that’s my round up of the cruise, it’s not as detailed as some of the other geneablogger’s, but feel free to go read theirs for more indepth stuff. So would I do it all again? Sure!! I’ll be going on the next one in February 2014, and I know a bunch of my genie friends (including new friends I made on the cruise, as well as those I’ve known for years) have already booked.
In the meantime I need to think Winter, and get back to my packing for RootsTech!!

Don’t worry about packing yet. As long as everything is clean you can throw it into a bag just before you leave. Don’t pack too tightly – there’s a shopping centre just up the road from the Salt Palace and clothes are CHEAP especially with our strong Aussie dollar.
