    Hello,
I have recently been nominated to be the news letter editor of our local genealogical society. My predecessor has forwarded to me a link to your blog and suggested that I ask permission to re-post your 25 golden rules. Naturally attribution goes to you with a link.

I am very new to this and have not produced my first news letter at this point. Thank you in advance for your time.
    Dennis

Hi Alona, I just discovered your blog and website and thought you and your readers may enjoy a new song and video produced for my Gibson Family reunion this past June. I have never been a great journal keeper but have recently started sharing my family history through music. You can listen and watch at https://youtu.be/Qs-PCd5zUXQ. Though written for my grandparents the message is universal. Best wishes, Mike Gibson (mikegibsonmusic.com).

Do ihave to repeat myself regarding the Damages that the NSW state Government is doing Via Their Department of Planning and Environment, by destroying our Heritage, and Heritage Environment Demolishing the heritage Buildings in Areas that I do know of, I was born In North ParramAtta in 1942 , and there have been many Heritage Buildings in that region Demolished.
I also have worked For the Public Works Department from 1958 and have seen so many Heritage Buildings Destroyed, now it is the State Government doing it in The areas that I worked in From Gosford, Erina ,and Peat and Milson islands, then swinging around through Jenolan Caves , and Megalong Valley and back to the East around Picton Larks Hill, Raith , and Cawdor. I have used Trove when I could not remember some items that my Grand parents born in the 1850’s had told me about , Trove must stay , otherwise some o& these items will not be available from me , as I am now 81 years o& age, and will not live forever , whereas trove can be .
One of the items would be Gladys Berejiclians Flooding of Parramatta River being a once in 100 year Flooding, whereas i personnally can remember From my childhood the River actually covering Rings Bridge in O Connell Street at least 6 Times.

    Hello Alona,
I have been having trouble viewing my Data CD’s on my new computer. Is there some product i need to purchase to be able to view the SA Registration CD’s I bought some years ago?
I can use the BISA [Bi-Centennial Index of South Australians], but have not been able to use the SA Births, or Deaths.
Hoping you can help me please??
I am placing this query on your ‘Contact me’ page, in case other people are having the same problem,
    Cheers Christine Hunt

    • Alona says:

Hi Christine, the BISA uses Adobe Reader to read it, so there won’t be any issue with that, but the Digger disks were created to use on software that no longer exists, so hence that’s why they aren’ useable on newer computers. In saying that I have heard of people with Win 10, and they use a software emulator to make their computer think that it’s a Win XP, and that works. So either Google to see what software emulators there are, or ask any computer techie person you know. I’ll admit I haven’t tried that myself, as I keep an old laptop with Win XP for that purpose.
