Australian Government Gazettes – Have You Discovered Them?

If you are researching your Australian ancestors, one record that doesn’t get the recognition that it deserves is Government Gazettes. I know it has the word “government” in it, so it automatically “sounds” boring, but trust me the Government Gazettes are a truly fascinating read! And if you haven’t discovered them, now is a good time to do so.

The Guide to FamilySearch Online

I wanted to let you know about this fabulous new book I bought recently “The Guide to FamilySearch Online” by James L. Tanner.

After reading about this title on James’ Genealogy’s Star blog, I went right ahead and bought my copy through the BYU Bookstore for US$39.95. I admit that I did cringe at the $30.00 freight, however that was forgiven when I received it within 3 days. I see that it is also now available through Amazon.com, though I haven’t checked out the freight.

So you think you’re a Tech Savvy Genealogist…

After my intro blog post, I was wondering what I should write next. I’d been meaning to participate in fellow geneablogger Geniaus’ latest meme “So you think you’re a Tech Savvy Genealogist… ” and write it on the Gould Genealogy & History blog, but haven’t done so yet.

Then I figured in reality it’s probably more appropriate here anyway, so here’s my contribution to the “So you think you’re a Tech Savvy Genealogist… ” meme.

Hello world!

Welcome to my first post! Actually to be more specific, I should say welcome to my first blog post on THIS site. Some of you may know me from my posts on the Gould Genealogy blog, which is who I work for.

Rest assured, I’ll still be blogging there, but it seemed time for me to start my own blog.

So here I am, and since I’ve set all of this up myself, ok, ok, almost all of this up myself (with help from some techy family members), I feel that I am more of a geneablogger than I was before.
